Eleanor Moon Knight passed peacefully from this life on September 19, 2017.

Eleanor was born in Goes Station, Ohio on December 14, 1917. She was the daughter of Charles and Ida Matthews Moon. Eleanor was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers also two beloved children Karen K. Stensrud and Larry C. Nelson and her husband Robert D. Knight.

Eleanor is survived by two daughters and sons in law Priscilla and Michael Miller and Marcia and Carl Greer both of Xenia, a son and daughter in law Rob and Anita Knight of Colorado, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

During World War II Eleanor's husband like may other American men was called to serve in Europe. She decided she wanted to do more than just listen to the news. She put away her apron and rolled up her sleeves and went to work at Wright Patterson. She worked on an assembly line repairing airplane engines. When Robert returned she took her apron out of storage and became a housewife again.

Eleanor was a life long member of Xenia Friends Church and taught Sunday school. She was deeply involved with the church until her health declined. Eleanor enjoyed having big family gatherings in her home where she often made chicken and home made noodles. Everyone always looked forward to eating her homemade candy at Christmas. She also liked antiques, attending flea markets and auctions.

Due to family members having to travel great distances private services will be held at the family's convenience.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of Dayton.

You may also do a good deed for someone that needs your help. Eleanor would like that.

The Powers-Kell Funeral Home is serving the family.
