Victor L. Brown, age 72, died at his home in Jamestown, Ohio on Friday, March 30, after a short illness.

Born in Jamestown, he was the son of Cecil and Alice (Hoover) Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and mother of his children, Sharon (Edwards) Brown and his daughter-in-law, Dee Dee (Montgomery) Brown. Survivors include his wife, Karen (Donovan) Brown; his sons, Todd (Rhonda) Brown of Xenia and Aaron (Shelley Hall-Adams) Brown of Jamestown; step-daughter Sarah (Kyle) Johnson of Texas; step-son Sean Dickens of Bellbrook; and grandchildren Daniel (Courtney Burnett) Brown, Victoria Brown and Christopher Brown; step-grandchildren Autumn Johnson and Nolan Johnson; and a very special great-grandson, Clayton Victor Brown. He also is survived by his brother, Larry (Roberta) Brown of Xenia, and his sister Cindy (Dave) Trick of Beavercreek; and lifelong friends, motorcycle buddies and “partners in crime” Larry and Connie Allen of Jeffersonville; two aunts, Dorothy Lane of Xenia and Donna Akey of Tennessee; and numerous other relatives and friends. Not to be forgotten is his yellow lab Jasmine, whose funny antics brightened his every day.

Vic was a 1964 graduate of Greeneview High School, and was drafted into the Army in 1967. He was headed for Vietnam in 1968 when the capture of the U.S.S. Pueblo by North Korea caused him to be diverted to the Demilitarized Zone. He served in Korea for one year.

Vic worked at Ryan Homes for 15 years before becoming a mailman for the U.S. Postal Service. He delivered mail for 21 years, briefly in Jamestown and the remainder in Xenia, before retiring in 2007.

An avid fisherman and gardener, Vic could fix anything, thanks to his Grandpa Hoover’s mentoring. He was a skilled woodworker who could turn any scrap into something beautiful and useful.

Visitation will be at Powers-Kell Funeral Home in Jamestown from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Swiger officiating. Burial to follow in Silvercreek Cemetery.
