Lessie M. (Hatfield) Moses

November 21, 1919 ~ May 23, 2018 (age 98)

 

Lessie Moses 98, of Milton, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday May 23, 2018 in Jamestown, Ohio. Mrs. Moses was born November 21, 1919 in Milton, West Virginia, to James Albert and Chloe (Clagg) Hatfield.  She married Owen Jordan Moses on January 02, 1937, they were married for 58 years and for 15 years, owned the first petting zoo at West Virginia’s Pumpkin Festival.  During WWII, Lessie worked as a Rosie the Riveter, from 1941-1942.  She was a 50 year member of Milton Chapter Eastern Star, a member of Lower Creek Church and loved all kinds of animals.

Lessie is survived by her daughter, Pauletta Evans (DeWitt); 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchildren and sister, Bessie Hatfield Holley and special friend Dr. Faraoq Siddiqi.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Owen Jordan Moses; both parents, James and Chloe Hatfield; siblings:  Essie Clagg, Violet Meadows, Myrtle Chapman, Mary Lillian Hatfield, James Albert Hatfield Jr., Robert Hatfield, Paul Hatfield and Harold Hatfield.  

Visitation only will be held 5:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. on Friday May 25, 2018 at Powers-Kell Funeral Home in Jamestown, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M on Saturday May 26, 2018 at Heck Funeral Home in Milton, West Virginia, where friends may meet from 12:00 Noon, until the time of the service. Burial will be at Milton Cemetery, Milton, West Virginia.
